Rest is not idleness

Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer’s day, listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is by no means a waste of time.
— Sir John Lubbock

So What

Sometimes people let the same problem make them miserable for years when they could just say, So what. That’s one of my favorite things to say. So what.
— Andy Warhol

When you are washing the dishes, washing the dishes must be the most important thing in your life. Just as when you are drinking tea, drinking tea must be the most important thing in your life. Drink your tea slowly and reverently, as if it is the axis on which the whole world revolves—slowly, evenly, without rushing toward the future. Live the actual moment. Only this actual moment is life.
— Thich Nhat Hanh

So you want to be a writer?

by Charles Bukowski

if it doesn't come bursting out of you
in spite of everything,
don't do it.
unless it comes unasked out of your
heart and your mind and your mouth
and your gut,
don't do it.
if you have to sit for hours
staring at your computer screen
or hunched over your
searching for words,
don't do it.
if you're doing it for money or
don't do it.
if you're doing it because you want
women in your bed,
don't do it.
if you have to sit there and
rewrite it again and again,
don't do it.
if it's hard work just thinking about doing it,
don't do it.
if you're trying to write like somebody
forget about it.

if you have to wait for it to roar out of
then wait patiently.
if it never does roar out of you,
do something else.

if you first have to read it to your wife
or your girlfriend or your boyfriend
or your parents or to anybody at all,
you're not ready.

don't be like so many writers,
don't be like so many thousands of
people who call themselves writers,
don't be dull and boring and
pretentious, don't be consumed with self-
the libraries of the world have
yawned themselves to
over your kind.
don't add to that.
don't do it.
unless it comes out of
your soul like a rocket,
unless being still would
drive you to madness or
suicide or murder,
don't do it.
unless the sun inside you is
burning your gut,
don't do it.

when it is truly time,
and if you have been chosen,
it will do it by
itself and it will keep on doing it
until you die or it dies in you.

there is no other way.

and there never was.

We want the spring to come and the winter to pass.
We want whoever to call or not call,
A letter, a kiss-
We want more and more
And then more of it

But there are moments,
Walking, when I catch a glimpse of myself in the
Window glass,
Say, the window of the corner video store,
And I'm gripped by a cherishing
So deep for my own blowing hair,
Chapped face, and unbuttoned coat
That I'm speechless:

I am living...

Let Go

Dear Peter, I am finding in life that as we let go, the spirit takes over more. I am learning to trust and the key is SO simple. Never let yourself feel fear. Always feel love, it's that easy. Each day if I want to feel any negative emotions I realize that that will keep my body from healing and that the only way to heal is to trust and to feel love. I wake up and think, death or happiness my only two choices :) I am learning to become VERY happy and realizing all of us can make this choice every single day. If there is any worry in your heart just let it go and dwell in a space of happiness and love. That's the space where all the miracles happen. You are being watched and attended by a ton of angels and by Christ so just enjoy! No worries, be happy."

"Your memory is a monster; you forget—it doesn’t. It simply files things away. It keeps things for you, or hides things from you—and summons them to your recall with a will of its own. You think you have a memory; but it has you."
- John Irving

Grace and Gravity

"The soul has moments of Escape
When bursting all the doors
She dances like a Bomb, abroad,
And swings upon the Hours.
As do the Bee -- delirious borne
Long Dungeoned from his Rose
Touch Liberty -- then know no more,
But Noon, and Paradise"

Find My Barriers

“Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.” - Rumi   from Blue - to me.
